The Thinking Classroom, (researched by Peter Liljedahl) is a set of 14 practices that transforms students from mimickers to active thinkers, teachers from lecturers to guides, and classrooms from sit-and-get to discovery-and-interaction.

The journey to transform can be gradual (start with the first three practices a couple times a week), but the transformations you see will be immediate.

Dr. April Strom has taught mathematics at the community college level for over 22 years. In addition, she has served on many local, regional, and national boards focused on improving mathematics education.

April co-lead the writing of the Classroom Practices chapter of the MAA Instructional Practices Guide and served on the steering committee for the AMATYC IMPACT guide.

She received her Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction (emphasis in Mathematics Education) from Arizona State University, and holds an M.A. and B.A. degree in Mathematics from Texas Tech University.
